Hotel Puerta America – Madrid

Hotel Puerta America – Madrid

On a recent trip to Madrid, I stayed at the Hotel Puerta America for 4 nights. Well I say recent, it was actually a few months ago before life took over! ๐Ÿ™‚

Upon arrival we were impressed by the innovation of the hotel. All of the common spaces are excellently coupled with the quirkiness of the hotel rooms, a great combination. Each floor is designed by a different architect, and not any architect, some of the names are: Hadid, Nouvel, Foster

Our welcome was very friendly and receptionist showed us an iPad from where we could chose our style of room. We were decided on a room with a view on the 11th floor. Extremely clean and set out very well with a stocked mini bar and complimentary water.

We choose to stay on floor 11, which was excellent with an amazing view across Madrid. There was however the slightly less than private shower facilities with a half blind coverage, but hey all in the name of design!

Our first meal in Madrid was at one of the restaurants inside the hotel, well sized portions and some refreshing mocktails were perfect to get the trip started.

Pizza and Paella

This hotel is clearly popular with locals and we found a few private functions being held during our stay, again this added to the atmosphere. The bar and facilities are open into the early hours but the hotel floors are extremely quiet at all times. The sky bar was set out nicely and we loved the glass floor on the 13th floor although you’ll need the nerve to attempt the full semi circle walk.

This hotel is 200m from the Cartegena Metro station which we used throughout the stay, equally the local suburb has local restaurants, ATM, shops and feels very safe and friendly. Tim Horton’s was a block away and was a good base for us to start our morning from.

Such an efficient metro system

We spent the weekend exploring the highlights of Madrid and did not spend too much time in the room but we slept well with a fantastic view, air conditioning and a comfortable bed.

My birthday was during our stay at the hotel and the hotel offered a nice touch of leaving this in the room on my birthday.

On checkout, we were greeted by a smiling member of staff who checked us out efficiently.

Overall we had a great stay with this hotel, I probably wouldn’t quite class it as 5* unless the prices count, and it isn’t the closest to central but other than that, this hotel is well placed near the Metro line and has a definite wow factor. We would certainly recommend this to friends and family who would appreciate the style of it.

Do you have a hotel that needs a public review or coverage? Feel free to contact me to discuss potential collaboration.
