If you’ve read my post All that glitters you’ll know that I’ve become more aware of the effects our day to day products have on the eco system.
Although my post was about pieces of glitter, I’ve recently been looking at everything around me and it is absolutely evident that single use plastics is becoming a big problem.
Single-use plastics, or disposable plastics, are used only once before they are thrown away or recycled. These items are things like plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers, soda and water bottles and most food packaging.
It’s not easy to eliminate these from our daily life however like most changes, it’s all about a bit at a time.
It is a hugely important topic, not just for adults but I think it’s important to educate our children too.
Sky has launched a 12-episode series, Dive In and Do It, which introduces youngsters to the issues surrounding plastics and the problems they pose for our sealife.
Each short episode suggests tips and life hacks so that kids can dive in and reduce their use of single use plastics in a fun, interactive way – perfect to entertain the kids over half-term.
The series is presented by Paddy, Reis, 9-year-old Ynez and an animated turtle – Logey – who persuades young viewers that, if we all make small steps, we can make a big difference!
The series will be available across all Sky platforms including Q, +, Kids App, Go & NOW TV from 28th May.
Let’s better our oceans one coffee cup at a time. 🙂
